The belt material that runs in oil can break down over time and clog the oil pump pickup screen; if neglected, it creates a risk of oil starvation and serious engine damage. Early inspection and timely replacement are critical.
The AdBlue dosing system triggers warnings due to deposit buildup and injector clogging; it can put the vehicle into reduced power (limp mode) and, in advanced cases, leave it unable to run. The system needs to be removed and cleaned, or the parts renewed.
Especially in short-distance city driving, the diesel particulate filter cannot regenerate and becomes clogged; it shows up as power loss and a warning light. Forced regeneration under control or filter cleaning is applied.
On BlueHDi engines the EGR valve and manifold seize up due to carbon buildup, causing rough idle, smoke and a drop in performance. The valve needs to be removed and cleaned, or replaced.
On C3 and C4 models the rear torsion axle bearings wear out, causing squeaking and uneven tire wear. A complete axle overhaul requires expertise and is a point that is often overlooked.
