Shudder when pulling away at low speed, jerking during shifts, or a clutch overheating warning on the 7DCT dual-clutch transmission are signs that mechatronics adaptation and a clutch check are needed.

Dark smoke from the exhaust and oil consumption

Dark/blue smoke from the exhaust on the T-GDI petrol or CRDi diesel, along with higher-than-expected oil loss, points to an injection, turbo or combustion problem; diagnosis is essential.

Hard starting in cold weather

On a diesel Sportage, hard cold starting, idle vibration and sooty running suggest issues with the glow plugs, injector return flow rate or fuel pressure.

Ticking from the chain/engine area

Can you solve the DPF and EGR problem on a Kia Sportage without removal?

Yes. We do not delete or remove the DPF or EGR; that is illegal and causes emissions and performance problems. Instead, we read the load and pressure values with the diagnostic computer and carry out forced regeneration, legal soot cleaning and, if needed, replacement with genuine/quality equivalent parts.

Can you repair the shudder in the 7DCT dual-clutch transmission?

In most cases, yes. First we read the clutch friction wear and the mechatronics data with the device. Many shudder and jerking complaints are resolved with clutch adaptation and a transmission fluid renewal; if there is mechanical wear, we replace only what is genuinely needed and never sell unnecessary parts.

Is there a difference between the 1.6 CRDi and 1.6 T-GDI maintenance on the Sportage?

Yes. On the CRDi diesel, the DPF/EGR, glow plugs, diesel-specific oil and fuel filter come to the fore. On the 1.6 T-GDI petrol, the injectors, spark plugs, ignition coils and intake-side carbon build-up are more critical. For each engine we use the oil and filter specification suited to the model.

Does the Sportage have a timing chain, or does it need a belt change?

The Sportage's 1.6 engines have a timing chain setup, which means there is no periodic timing belt change. However, the chain, tensioner and camshaft components do require inspection; if you hear ticking when cold, we check the chain tension both with the device and physically.
