Is an oil change necessary on the PSA EAT6 and EAT8 transmission, or is it lifetime fill?
Although the manufacturer specifies it as long-life on some models, in practice the ATF oil degrades over time in city traffic and heavy use. Worn-out oil leads to issues such as shift jolting, delay, and dropping into limp mode. Periodic oil and filter service is the most effective protection for transmission life.
Why is the adaptation reset important after an oil change?
The transmission control unit adjusts itself over time to the behavior of the old oil and worn clutches. When new oil is added, these old values become incorrect and cause jolting. If we do not reset the adaptation and run the relearn procedure, the shifts will not be smooth; that is why it is an inseparable part of the job.
Is it enough to just drain and refill the oil, or is a full machine flush needed?
We decide based on the condition of the vehicle. In some cases a classic change with level set at the correct temperature is sufficient, while very dirty systems may require a more comprehensive renewal. What matters is the correct oil type, the correct amount, and a level check at the correct temperature; we verify this with computer-based measurement.
Is the cause of shift jolting always the oil?
No. Jolting can come from oil quality, but it can also stem from a solenoid valve, hydraulic pressure, the torque converter, or software. That is why we perform computer-based diagnosis and live data measurement first. We do not recommend unnecessary parts replacement; we only fix the real problem the measurements point to.
Is there a difference between EAT8 and EAT6 service?
Both are Aisin-built, but the EAT8 is eight-speed and has a different oil specification and calibration. The wrong oil type or wrong adaptation procedures will spoil shift quality. We service both transmission types correctly and separately according to the manufacturer data.
How long does the job take, and can I get my vehicle back the same day?
