DSG Dual-Clutch Replacement Coverage

Dual-clutch transmissions (DSG, DCT, PowerShift, S-Tronic and similar) use two separate clutch packs to manage odd and even gears independently, which is what makes their gear changes so fast and seamless. Over time, however, the friction surfaces wear, the clutch bite point drifts, and you start to feel jolting, shuddering, or hesitation when pulling away. Dry clutches are generally used in vehicles with small to mid-size engines, while wet clutches are used in higher-torque vehicles and run inside the transmission fluid. Replacing the clutch pack with the correct type is not enough on its own; without performing a clutch adaptation (basic setting) through the mechatronic unit afterward, the vehicle will not run properly. We carry out this process with computerized diagnostics and transparent reporting, without replacing parts unnecessarily.

  • Computerized fault diagnosis: reading the clutch bite point, friction wear values, and mechatronic fault records
  • Dry dual-clutch pack replacement (for small to mid-size engine DSG/DCT vehicles)
  • Wet dual-clutch pack replacement with transmission fluid and filter renewal
  • Flywheel (dual-mass flywheel) inspection and replacement when required
  • Inspection of the clutch release/pressure system and mechatronic connections
  • Post-replacement clutch adaptation (basic setting) and bite point learning
  • Road test to check pull-away, gear changes, and shudder
  • Use of genuine OEM-compatible parts and guaranteed workmanship

When Is DSG Dual-Clutch Replacement Needed?

If you notice any of the symptoms below, a prompt expert inspection is important.

Jolting when pulling away

If the vehicle jumps, jerks, and fails to move forward smoothly in stop-and-go traffic or when setting off on a hill, the clutch friction plates may be worn.

Shudder (judder)

A vibration felt in the steering wheel and body when pulling away under light throttle is a classic sign that the clutch surface is gripping unevenly.

Delayed gear changes

If the revs climb when you press the throttle but the vehicle accelerates with a delay, the clutch may be slipping.

Transmission warning light

A transmission/gear warning illuminating on the instrument cluster, or the vehicle dropping into limp mode.

Burning smell and overheating

A burning clutch smell, especially in traffic or on a hill, indicates the clutch is slipping excessively.

Rattle at idle or when slowing down

A metallic rattle at low speed or in N position can be an early sign of a problem on the clutch/flywheel side.

Frequently Asked Questions About DSG Dual-Clutch Replacement

Quick answers to your questions.

Dry clutch or wet clutch—which one does my car have?
This depends on the transmission type and the engine torque. Generally, small to mid-size engine vehicles use the dry type, while higher-torque vehicles use the wet type. We determine the correct pack from your vehicle's chassis/transmission data through a computerized query and license plate lookup; we don't fit parts based on guesswork.
Why is adaptation essential after the clutch is replaced?
The bite point of a new clutch differs from the factory value. Without performing an adaptation (basic setting) through the mechatronic unit, the vehicle will pull away with jolting and gear changes will be harsh. Post-replacement adaptation and a road test are part of our standard process.
I only have shuddering—does the whole pack have to be replaced?
No. We first check the friction plate values, the flywheel, and the mechatronic unit with computerized diagnostics. Sometimes the problem stems from a drifted adaptation or the fluid/filter. We recommend only what is genuinely needed, without replacing parts unnecessarily.
Does the dual-mass flywheel need replacing too?
Not always. We check the flywheel's runout and its spring/grip condition. If the flywheel is sound, we replace only the clutch pack; if the flywheel is worn, renewing it together with the clutch resolves the shudder permanently.
How long does the job take and when can I collect my car?
The time varies depending on the clutch type and whether the flywheel needs replacing. After diagnosis we give you a clear timeframe and a transparent work plan; we won't hand the car back until the adaptation and road test are complete.
Do you use genuine parts?
We use clutch packs of genuine OEM quality that meet manufacturer standards. We share the part we use and the work we perform transparently, and we provide a workmanship warranty.
